Buddha Hall Mixed Gender Dorm
During group retreats in the colder months, our Buddha Hall is transformed into a mixed-gender dormitory for retreatants. Each person is provided with a pop-up privacy tent for sleeping, a twin-size mattress, and bedding. The Buddha Hall is equipped with heating and cooling for comfort. It’s just a short walk to the Shower House, restrooms, and central kitchen. Please note that this dorm also serves as a space for teachings and practices, so it remains a public area.
Includes:
- Open dormitory area with individual pop-up privacy tents around each bed
- Twin-size mattress with top and bottom sheets, pillow and pillowcase, and comforter
- Access to shower and bathroom facilities
- Access to electric tea kettle
Please note we do not provide bath towels in dorm-style accommodations. You are responsible for bringing your own towels.

Winter Camping
During the winter months, participants may pitch tents in our campground or park camper vans at the forest's edge. You’ll have access to the Shower House, which includes sinks, toilets, and hot showers. Drinking water is available from filtered taps throughout the campground and at the Shower House, Sangha House, and Buddha Hall.
Please be aware that winter weather at Gomde is unpredictable, with a likelihood of rain and cold temperatures. We recommend this option for experienced campers. Car camping is also welcome. If you choose to camp, you are responsible for providing your own camping gear and should plan accordingly.

Cliff Retreat Hut
Our Cliff Retreat Hut offers retreatants the opportunity to practice in near total isolation. Positioned on the edge of a cliff with stunning views of the Gomde River Valley, you can expect misty mornings and golden sunsets. While the seclusion is valuable and the views are breathtaking, please keep in mind that the accommodations are simple and rustic, and it will likely be cold and rainy during the winter months. The cabin does not have electricity nor heat, and shared restrooms and showers are a short walk down a forested trail to our campground facility. There is a filtered drinking water station just outside of the hut.
We recommend this option to retreatants with outdoor experience who are comfortable sleeping in the cold. Cliff hut guests should pack appropriate clothes for the cold and bring a flashlight or headlamp for the dark mornings and evenings. You may also consider bringing extra camping gear such as a portable battery phone charger.
